Here's a nice finishing touch for your MCS letter slot - some 1/4" hexagonal honeycomb metal mesh to keep out bugs, bats, and birds.

BTW, while this page says 70% open area, if you click the "click to enlarge" link, it is actually 79% open, which should be minimally restrictive...
Sprayed black to match the cowl intakes, it should look very trick.
I've ordered a 12x24" sheet, so if any other four guys in the Portland area want to split the cost, I'll have a bunch left over.
