Looking for a GPS mount

Just purchased a Gamin Quest, that has a suction cup mount. Typically this is mounted to the windshsield. I want to mount this closer the the dash. Right now I have it attached to the speedo.

What I am looking for is a mount that is similar to the auxilary gauge mounts that the S's use. I would like one that attaches to the steering column that I can have a flat surface to mount the suction cup to. If the dash to the left of the speedo were flat, I would be in good shape.

I hope I have made this clear enough that someone has a solution. Thanks

This may not work for you but I mounted my PDA GPS to the left of the speedometer using a Kuda Phonebase. It clips on top of the dash by the vent and hangs over the edge. It's removable and very stable when installed. The position is just perfect for operation by my right hand as it is just a finger's reach from the steering wheel. And it is in a perfect visual location requiring only a slight side glance.

Here is the Phonebase mounted on the MINI. Note that the color matches the dash much better that the camera's flash shows:

And here is the driver's view:

Don't know if this would work for you but you can look on the Kuda site: http://www.kudausa.com

This looks like a good mount, but I was looking for something that attached to the steering colum with an offset to the right that I could mount the suction cup to. I have to have the suction cup as it provides the 12V power and speaker.

If you like the aesthetics of that mount, should be easy enough to bolt on a flat surface that you can stick the suction cup to. I haven't seen anything that does what you're looking for, but it would be easy enough to fabricate with the right tools. Seems the problem would be getting it in a place that it isn't blocked by the wheel.

film canister

I really like the little mount made from a film canister that someone posted quite a while back. I have my cell phone mounted this way and as it turns out that the camera on the phone sticks above the dash so I can take a cool picture of where I am going. Cheap easy and very secure mount.

My garmin came with a nice little mount that sticks to the dash, and you can then lock/unlock your unit to it. Take a look at this link https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...0&ppuser=17773
