Hmm, he doesn't actually send the car somewhere else. Rather, the vinyl guys work in the MINI bays and you pay MINI. Price is standard MINI rates. Sorry, not Twice as much, who in their right mind would pay that?

Now i have a relationship with the vinyl installer and bypass the dealer entirely so its even cheaper.

Your mileage may vary.

Hey is the OEM vinyl both colors of checkers (black and white), or is it like one box is clear, and one is white for a black roof, and vise versa. I want to buy one, but need to be sure. Thanks guys

They are one color. White on a Black Roof, Black on a white roof

In my case, I configured the car at MINIUSA, printed it and told the dealer, get me this and they did. They sent the car out to a shop down the road but the price is whatever the price is on the MINI configurator.

I have had it on for 2 years and I do not garage my car and it looks great still and I wax right over it. I do have 1 or 2 corners that I can just start to see might be lifting (like maybe 1/32" on the corner, barely enough to feel) so I can see needing to replace it in a couple more years. I might get it painted at that time.

I have been trying to find someone to cut some white perforated vinyl squares for me but havent found anyone who will do it. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Also, what size are your squares? I was thinking doing them in 10" squares.

I'll have to go check the size. It ends up being 5 squares across with a small border at the edge.

There is a small pictuer in my Gallery, but it does not show the top all that well.

My squares are 8 1/2 inches. That leaves about a 2" border from the edge of the square to the drip rail. They cut the squares that would touch (front corners especially) to about that same dimension to keep a more or less consistent border all around.

thanks for the measurement.

I am not seeing the 2" of space between your squares and the drip rail that you mentioned. it almost looks as if they either meet up at the edge of your drip rail or even tuck underneath of it?

The red car above has slightly larger or more squares and it does appear to go edge to edge. If you look in my gallery, you can see a white border around hte edge of the black checkers, which is how the official MINI kit looks.

I have never seen one like the red car pictured, it looks pretty cool, especially the back section there.
