Interior/Exterior Peeling on sill plate?
Peeling on sill plate?
I was cleaning my car this weekend and when i went to wipe off the sill plate i noticed some bubbling. At first it looked like when you buy something new and there is a thin plastic wrap over it. So, me being impulsive grabbed the corner and pulled up. Not the right thing to do... Has anyone else had this problem? Now my passenger side door sill looks messed up
There is a protective coating on the sills that the dealer should have removed at the time the car was prepped for delivery to you...could that be what it is, you don't really describe what happened or how the sill was changed.
Are you sure it wasn't the thin plastic protective covering? I have had many loaner MINI's from Motor City MINI and just about everyone has still had the film over the sill plates. Not sure if they forgot about it or wanted to keep it protected while loaned out. From what I recall I think the file has a blue tint to it. Also used on the MINI (word) in the center cap of the wheels. Seen many MINI's still with Blue tinted MINI on thier wheels. The dealer may have over looked pulling the film off during prep for you.
The plastic that i peeled up was not really like the protective stuff i've seen on other things. It's hard to describe, but i guess you could say it was sorta tough. Also, when i pulled up on it it didn't come off very easily. After i pulled it off the corner the metal looked non-uniform in color (so i quit messing with it).
