As promised here are some pics of my uuc shift **** for my cooper s. Just like all my experiences with uuc, the **** is extremely high quality, feels like a 5lb dumbell in you hand (not sure how something of that size can be so heavy) The shifts are effortless and smooth, and on top of that the look and feel is well worth the price of admission. Enjoy. One last thing, if you want one go to http://www.uucmotorwerks.com and tell them Blake sent you, maybe they will hook me up with some free goodies next time I order something

Enjoy

that's what I said when I pulled/lugged it out of the box. The hardest part was looking at a closet full of mods and no mini to put them on for over a month.

Does the **** get really cold? I really want to find a nice looking **** that doens't get as freezing as the stock one.

Hmm, I see a whole new line of MINI accessories - logo shifter **** warmers. I can probably get my mom to crochet them in various colors to match our MINIs.

Seriously, I opted for the Whalen stainless shifter **** and while I do really love it - on cold mornings it will open you eyes.

If you are looking for a new **** because the stock one is too cold, do not buy the uuc or the whalen ****. Both will be much colder than the stock ****. But even though it is colder than stock, when I was in flagstaf at 7am driving back to CA, it was about 15 degrees outside and my body was much colder in the car than my hands were from the ****. Worst case scenario is to keep a wool sock in the glove box. But due to the extra weight of both of the ***** it makes shifting effortless so the amount of time your hand is in contact with the **** is minimized. Hope this helps.

bmarvin81,

Is that a set screw in your first picture, bottom RH side of the ****? If so, any issues with installation,...?

The install if so smooth. Just yank up (very hard) on the stock **** (seems akward that they would do it that way) and then just slide the ucc **** on and then tighten the screw in the ****. Sounds strange but it is very flush and the fact that it is on the back side of the shifter you never see it of feel it. I prefer this method to the strange collar setup with momo shifters. The whalen **** has a really trick collar to it, the only reason I choose the uuc **** is just personal prefernce. If UUC didn't make one I would of gotton one of the whalen *****. I just like the shift pattern setup on uuc **** better, I used to have a polished momo ball on my audi and without a shift pattern it is a bit nerve racking thinking about valets trying to find reverse. I know you can get the whalen **** engraved but I think the engraved look seems more at home on a classic mini. Just my 2 cents. Either way you will not be disapointed by either ****.

If I remember correctly I got mine for $99, I think the regular price is about $125, but I think they wanted to introduce the product with a bang. I have always been amazed at thier build quality, worth every penny.

Is it me or is the UUC **** TALLER than the stock one? If that's the case then this **** lengthens the shift thow a little. Do you notice a longer shifter throw?

The UUC **** is only taller by about 1/4". A common misconception about shorter shifts is that it can be had with simply cutting down the upper rod of the shifter. This is a practice commonly used in doing ghetto mods on civics.

The other idea of shortening shifter throw is to actually increase the distance between the lower portion of the shift lever mechanism and the pivot. By doing this, upper portion of the lever will have to travel less since the longer bottom portion now has more leverage. This is what you find on the M3's and S4's that race in the GT class.

That's gonna be a treat to handle when the car has been sitting in the sun for a few hours in the middle of summer!

Which of the UUC ***** was this (RK2, RK2 Magnum, RK3)? And an even better question...which do you think of the RK2 ****'s would look best with Antracite interior (brushed aluminum, stainless steel or titanium)?

Thanks in advance.

Never mind. Just found the Mini product section where the RK3 stainless steel **** is listed (still $99.00). I think the titanium would of looked awesome with the antracite though.
