Thanks! I'd like to get a better look at your MINI, with the M2C2 graphics and such. Blue with a Blue "S" looks very trick as well!

Yes, there is no performance gain to this, but it is the kind of thing guys do.

Here's my M2C2 gallery, http://www.m2c2.org/gallery2/thumbnails.php?album=1. It's my company car so all the graphics, except for my M2C2 logos, are tech related.

Sorry... My poor sentence structure is to blame.

Yeah the brembo's come painted.

The stock rear calipers don't. ... I need to paint 'em to match. I like the painted look Brembo doesn't make rear calipers, only OEM sized rotors.

Red Red Red

Hey All:

I think the painted calipers are SWEET.

What's the best paint to use? I want something that would be as nice and
shiny as the Brembo red. Would you all say that the Duplicolor ceramic is pretty shiny? Or is the G2 just as good?

I know it's all subjective but just want to get some input. I have seen a truck that had some on it and they were DULL.
This may have been due to inattention, but this individual took pretty good care of his truck.

BTW, I'll paint the calipers when my new Hawk pads come in. There's no reason to mess with it while the OEM pads are
producing a daily FOG of brakedust to coat everything.

Thanks in advance,
Ray

Got it. cool

Now you just need some of those Kleen Wheel dust screens to protect from brake dust ... just kidding. Another thread just Loves those Kleen Wheels but the hide the calipers.

Tarzan,

What do you use to clean them up for touch up? Does the Dulicolor brack paint hold up well? I just started doing mine this weekend and want to make sure it holds up to wheel cleaner etc. And want to know what you all use to clean them for repainting when needed.

Hi Garret,

When I wash my car, I spray the wheels with official MINI wheel cleaner, then use a dedicated wheel soap bucket and mit (I use Zaino car wash) to wash inside the wheel arches, the sidewalls, the rims (inside and out) and the brake calipers. The paint holds up fantastically. There's so much paint in the can that you can touch them up whenever. No real need to spray the painted calipers with any strong cleanser--the paint stays vivid and bright. The Duplicolor kit is awesome!

When putting the spring back on, did you have a trouble? i.e. scraping paint etc? Any tips to putting them on with out damaging the pretty red paint lol?

I just went for it. Obviously if you wait longer for the paint to really cure/dry, there's less likelihood of scuffing the newly applied paint.

I for one didn't have the patience to wait, so I just let it scratch the paint at the bottom, then gave the scratch a quick dab with my paintbrush, which was still wet.

I let the car sit for over 24 hours, so I am sure things will be ok. When I get back from my brothers house, I will jack up the car again and apply the springs on the calipers. If I get any scratches, I will just have to touch things up when I get the car back from the dealer.

I put the spring clips back on and they are a pain in the butt to put on with out chiping the paint. I have to do some touch up on the calipers but will not be able to for a work or so as my car will be at the dealer to get some paint work fixed. Will I be ok until then? Will reg. wheel cleaner be ok to clean off the calipers when I need to repaint them? Would hate for them to look like crap within a short time. They look good except for the chip marks from the darn clips. Are they even needed for the brakes as they are bolted in.

duplicolor paint system...

Is the duplicolor paint system really glossy or more matted? Looking at Tarzan's pics, they seem glossy but on duplicolor's website it looks as though its pretty flat.

The paint is glossy and slippery to the touch. I would guess it will help with future brake dust cleaning as I assume it will wipe right off due to the glossy paint. I still need to do some touch up painting becuase of the springs, but the paint seems it will hold up over time.

I think its glossy enough. Although it will get coated with brake dust they clean up well.

I have had the kit for a few weeks and haven't painted mine yet. After seeing all the great pictures I'm going to do mine this weekend.

It's the blue from G2. I got it from Out Motoring, http://outmotoring.com/brake_caliper_paint_.html.

hyper,

what color and paint did you use? Looks good with your HB but since I have an EB I want to go darker with the calipers. Thanks

just did the fronts this past weekend on my PW MCS. With the web spokes, you don't really see as much but I think they're a nice accent to it.

Sure does add a bit of color in an area normally accented by a set of rims.

I think they look great! Aren't you amazed at how long the process actually takes? Those calipers are just crawling with little nooks and crannies!
