Locking door issue

Ok I go to get out of my car today and i pull 1 time... feels mushy... pull 2nd time still mushy... I look at the pin that sticks up and it has worn goves in it and is tough to pull up... but after I pull it up I can open the door. I know there is a problem but can i reasonably fix it or should I drive the 5hr round trip to go to a dealer? If I can fix it anyone know what the problem is?

MCS '05 with 1600 miles on it...

If you can live with the issue until you REALLY have to take the car to the dealer, then I'd say do that. Let the dealer fix it under warranty...

I had an issue with opening my door and it started with the door not wanting to unlock when I pull it. It turned out that the cable that connects the handle to the actuator had come loose. When it was just a little loose, it didn't have enough strength to unlock the door. Since it's so long to take your car to the dealer, you may want to pull off your door panel and make sure the cable is tight

FIXED

after 30mins its done... yes it took me about 20mins to get the door panel off but I found my cable not to be loose but rather missing a clip... so i rerouted the clips (already there) to give the cable more tension. Works great!

oh yea i can now take off door panel MUCH quicker now!
