Interior/Exterior Motorola IHF1000 (BLNC) install
Motorola IHF1000 (BLNC) bluetooth install
I just purchased this handsfree unit and am looking for some direction.
Mostly, since I've never gone into the headliner before, I could use some pointers in this area. I would like to understand how to get the microphone cover off and, since I have a sunroof, I wouldn't mind swapping the position of the mic and sunroof swithc in order to get the mic closer to the drivers side.
After that I could use some help in routing the mic wire in the head liner and then down the post. Since the post has an airbag I'm assuming I can't take it apart.
Once I have the wire run I intend to place the control unit under the knee bolster. The unit needs 5 amps (I believe continuous power) so if someone can clue me in to a spot I can tap into down there would be very helpful.
Just found this on the web regarding wire hookup.
Green - ignition-switched location on fuse block. When thie ignition is off , the ignition sense line is low. Any ideas where I can find this?
Red - positive battery lead to a point in the vehicle's fuse box that is fused at 5 amp. and this?
Believe I'll be placing the external speaker in the center console area but still trying to figure out where I'll be placing the keypad.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

The plastic cover in front of the rear view mirror just pops out (pry out the bottom first). I ran my wire for the radar detector and dimming mirror by pushing the wire between the windshield and the head liner with a flat scraper. I ran the wire down the A pillar by gently pulling back on the rubber moulding around the door.
I know that the MINI bluetooth kit installation guide says that you should remove the plastic A pillar cover and tie wrap the wires to the existing harness that runs down the A pillar. This way you do not interfere with the airbag deployment. However the A pillar cover is a not capable of being reinstalled (I guess you have to snap off some plastic tabs to remove it). A new one is around $40. This may be the safest way to go so as to not interfere with the airbag deployment.
To get power you can use one of the Piggyback fuses that are available from an auto suply place. You have to find a ingnition switched circuit in the fuse block behind the knee bolster (the bolster hinges down to access the area behind it). You pop out the fuse, pop in the extender, reinstall the fuse and connect a wire to the extender.
Hope this helps.

You have this?

That is the IHF1000 control unit.
The mic is behind the little grille by the mirror. The speaker is hidden under the glovebox down low. I didnt do the wiring but I watched some and it took several hours. I know the wires were run down the headliner, down the pillar, behind the dash (dash had to come out. All professionally done and very clean.
Its an awesome unit

That's the one.
I've had it installed for a couple months now. I placed the mic up in the vent next to the sunroof switch. In fact I moved the sunroof switch over to the right the mic closer to the driver side.
The speaker I have on the bottom shelf in the center console below the toggles. The keypad on placed on the knee bolster next to the drivers door.
I agree chows4us, this is an awsome unit. Works great with my razor but my treo has a problem staying connected. Working to find a better bluetooth driver for the treo.
