Interior/Exterior Boot handle removal and need part #
Does anyone know how the boot handle (Chrome on the Mini Cooper, Body color on the MCS) is removed?
Also, does anyone know the part number for the Mini Cooper chrome boot handle?
Thanks in advance,
JS

I'll answer my own question...maybe.
I found this on Mini2. I think if anyone is going to replace the body color grill on the Cooper S, it would help with consistency to also replace the boot handle in chrome. I will also use the aftermarket chrome mirror caps on my car.
Anyway, here is the unverified info:
Part Number: 51 137 074 020
Instructions copied from a MINI2 post:
1. remove 4 screws from the original body color trunk grip
2. Lift open boot & remove screws from the inner boot lining.
3. Gently pull on the plastic boot lining until it is forced ou of the clips (it should now come off in your hand)
4. Unclip the socket thingy for the number plate light.
5. Close boot and put chrome grip in place and feed the boot light clip thingy through the hole, then open boot
6. Reconnect the electrical clip thing, then close boot.
7. Screw chrome boot release in place
8. Open the boot & place boot lining back in place with a little force.
9. Screw boot lining back in place
10. Check the number plate lights are now working
11. Stand back & admire
Hope it helps,
JS

I know this thread is ancient, but has anyone else done this? I'm interested and wanted to know about how much it cost and whether it was just a chrome piece or if the lights came with it. I guess that has more to do with how much it cost.
