Pinstriping

I know the popular thing is rally stripes. But, has anyone pinstriped? I have a Black/Wht Top MCS. I thought it might look pretty cool with a nice simple pin stripe down the sides. If you have, do you have picts?

One of our local dealers had custom pinstriping done to a CR/B MCS. It was a painted black pinstripe with the MINI logo toward the front on the quarter panel. Looked SHARP!

Yep. I've seen a few around. Subtle and quite nice. Probably difficult to see in most photos.

Ditto...I saw one at the same dealer as movieman! (I think...Moritz right?) The one I saw was just as he described, but was gold on a BRG/W Cooper. The stripe was painted, the logo was vinyl. Classy touch.

I was told a local shop did the work...most likely the same shop did both MINIs. I agree, if done with restraint, it looks very nice!

I have a blk w/ white roof MCS and did a thin white stripe along the sides and around the back. I think it is a nice accent!

Suggest you go to the autoparts store and buy pin stripping tape and play around before committing to a painted stripe. This is what I did

Bump this old thread.

Has anyone else done pinstripping on their MINI?

the Mini was or is not the best design for pinstriping - not to mention that was so 70's.. Just say "no" to pinstripes.

True, someone mentioned it to me about my car the other day and I just gave them a look like they were crazy

I will have my mini pinstriped in the next week or so. The artist has done all of my cars and cars for the rest of my family. He has creative control and he will do what he wants. I will post pics as soon as it is done. I can't wait!

I totally agree... why break up the beautiful curves of the MINI's side with pinstripes?

Sweet, Sounds like you are doing apinstripe design, rather than just a straight line down the side. The boot would look great with a nice old school design, ala Von Dutch or Hot Dog. Pinsriping looked like it was fading out as a lost art form, but thankfully it has seen a revival inthe ast few years.

Go for it and don't forget to past pics when it is done.

I agree...I suppose the secret would be to accentuate the side contours/beltline w/o breaking it up. Tricky, but the pinstriping I've seen does this pretty well. Best seen in person, though.

i think the pinstripes look great..and correct me if im wrong, but on the 02 models before they began doing the bonnet stripes, they did pinstriping on some. I have an EB/W like the one above with the pinstriping, looks hand-done and hand screenprinted mini logos...pictures dont do them justice. the factory pinstripes are very classy.

Everything I've seen was aftermarket and, now that you mention it, on earlier MINIs. Last one I saw was in Spring of '03.

Deuce Coop,

Yes, I am sure it will be more than a simple line down the side of the car. In my gallery you will see my 1950 Studebaker that our artist designed and striped. I LOVE my studie just as much as my MINI. The artist can do whatever he wants to the car and it always looks great. I will post pics as soon as it is finished.

Nice. That must move with a 454 Looks like a lot of work went into it. I especially dig the louvered hood. Can't wait to see what he comes up with for your MINI.

Check out the Hot Orange Map link in my sig. There is an owner in Florida who has an MCSC with pinstripes like ingsoc's. I like the way they look on his car.
