Rear fog light harness

Does anyone know when the rear fog light retrofit harness will be available for pre-October 2005 cars? I saw something on NAM stating July. Mini USA says they have no release date.

Not sure what you mean about the harness being available for pre 05 cars. I have an 02 car that will just have the switch panel replaced so that the rear fog toggle switch is in place and all I need is to have the dealer perform the software upgrade and I am good to go.

What "wiring harness" do you think you need

Um, he thinks he need a harness for his car, which is an '05 model that was build prior to October and came with out a harness.

At one point

they were suppose to be available in May, not sure what happened after that. I got a PM from another message board user and she was saying its going to be way expensive. Here was part of her message.

"MINI of Peabody emailed me back as a result of my email being forwarded by MINIUSA. anyway, after talking on the phone with the parts manager, he emailed MINIUSA to find out what he knew about our build cars and the rear fog...here is the response:

Yes in July. The parts are already in the warehouse, I only need a new installation instruction. The bad news, the installation time will be somewhere between 2-3 hrs. The additional wiring harness needs to be routed from the A pillar to the rear bumper through the whole car. We have checked several other options, but this is still the fastest and most cost effective version.

So basically it means that instead of $200 or so to install it like it is for the cars with the wiring (or the $100 from the factory)...itt will be more in the range of $500 - $600 for parts & labour. "

If anyone wants to go their Mini Service Dept. and try to get more confirmation.

Howard

Installing the switch panel couldn't be that difficult, I will install mine on Tuesday next week and let you know how it goes. Wednesday it goes to the dealer for the software upgrade. Than I can take it to get the SVA test here in the UK

My dealership installed the light and switchpack and will install the harness (when available) for free - It was part of the car purchase deal.
