I can't stand how quickly the hatch of my MINI gets dirty. Has anyone tried using the mud flaps?

Do they work well for that?

Thanks,
Frank

Yeah, and does anyone have a photo of the flaps installed? I seem to recal that someone did. Perhaps Sirron? I think it was a yellow. I'll have to go look. I gues i should have done that BEFORE posting but oh well.

The flaps help with stuff thrown up toward the rear valance but the rear window/hatch schmutz comes over the top - You'll still get it even with flaps ...

I've never seen the flaps at my dealer. Are they a MINI part, or after-market? And are they easy to install (i.e., no drilling, etc.)?

I get a lot of crud all over my rear hatch all of the time. It's absolutely filthy this time of year (salt, etc.) about 5 minutes after washing...even if the roads are dry. So, I'd been thinking that flaps may help. I can't say that I'm aware of stuff flowing over the top of the car and winding up on the rear hatch. But I suppose if I get flaps I'll be able to figure this out.

The front flaps are no. 82 16 0 136 806
and the rears are no. 82 16 0 136 805 - - - but that rear flap is only for the Cooper, not for the 'S'

I don't know the part number, but I was just at the dealer yesterday and overheard the Parts Guy tell the sales staff that he just got the mudflaps in yesterday.

Anyhoo, they are a dealer part. Some places may not have them in stock yet.

...OH, 8ball, thanks for the info - you beat me.

I used to have a S-10 blazer a long time ago. It also had a flat back end like the MINI. The blazer has a wing/deflector on the top that forces the airflow from the top down the across the back. Not all Blazers have this option. The ones without have dirty rear windows. I would imagine that if the mini had such wing (which I think would be ugly) would work. I'm no engineer but I would think someone could come up with some wing design that would stop that vortex behind the car and look good.

So, does anyone know if there are rear mud flaps for the S...and if so, do they work? I really hate how dirty my back hatch gets. It's just awful...

is this a case of "Dirty-Booty MINI"?

This is the result of a very short overhang; although mudflaps would help, I wonder how they'd look. Pics of them installed anyone? I kind of doubt MINI will make flaps for the S, it's anti-Sporty

why won't the rear mudflaps work on a S? Isn't it the same bumper with a different exhaust outlet?

The bumpers and side-skirts are different on the S versus the Cooper.

This would make sense of the rear mudflaps working only on the Cooper.
