I tried surfing, but being SO new to the site, i've already blown a couple hours searching :P so i decided to start a new post.

A guy in my local mini club has an EB dash to match his EB/EB. I thought it was SWEET when i first saw it, but didn't ask him "where" he got it done, thinking he got it painted. Some how i found out that was an option on the 05's, and just saw a LY dash in a LY/LY at the BMW dealership today. I fell in love.

I HAVE to have a LY dash in my LY/W now... but i have an 04. I can paint it myself, but i want to know before i screw things up if the 04 and 05 dashes are interchangeable. It would save me alot of trouble if i could order a LY dash if it's possible. For some reason i thought i saw somewhere they "redesigned" the dash, making it more or less pieces on the "dash" some how... but i read up on the 05's long ago, and stopped keeping up for a while, until i finally bought my mini.

 

I believe they (04 vs 05) mount differently. Best info would come straight from the horses mouth (your local, or prefered, dealer). I was looking at removing my 05 dash to do a few things and was asking the dealer about it. They showed me how an 04 works but didn't have an 05 in the shop with the dash out at the time.

I have looked into the cost involved to do this...and you would pay the same if not save money to have it painted by a shop.....I belive it was over 350 for just a few of the 05 LY parts...

check it out locally...if nothing turns up I have a shop here I work with...for mini stuff...you could ship out the parts....I'll have to get a price though....and I am gettin on a plane in a few hours for ATL so when I get back I'll find out....PM me on the 25 th

 

they are not interchangable. the airbag in the pre 05 cars is in the dash part you want painted. in the 05 cars they are on the top.

 

The 04 dash is made of 5 cover pieces. The redesigned 05 dash has only 3 pieces.

I don't know if the prices vary with color, but I priced the 05 CR 3-piece dash at about $200. Previously someone has priced the 04 anthracite dash at $225.
