Removal of CVT shift handle

I just ordered a leather shift boot from Redline goods for my 2003 CVT Mini.
The instructions for removal of the handle specificially say 01+ Automatic
Installation instructions but show graphics for the manual shifter. The instructions say to pull straight up on the shift **** (says there are no
mechanical fasters that it is a pressure fit). I think this is wrong - how about the shift interlock button? Anyone changed the shift boot on a CVT - is it that simple?

Yep, BTDT. Do what it says. Glue is the only thing holding it on. If you have a sunroof - open it. Stand (as best you can) or kneel on the driver seat and pull slow and hard. It should come off.

yep...scared the heck out of me...everyone said just "pull it off" MCS came off fine didn't know about the auto.

Make sure to pull it STRAIGHT up, there is a long plastic thing that could be broken if you come off at an angle

Good luck, I pulled mine off to put a new boot on
