Garrett, I think your question was directed to me. I believe my MINI logo is a mouse pad! If it's not in that MINI2 link I provided above, do a search in MINI2 for "logo mouse pad" and that thread should be found...

Hinged for storage underneath, and very sturdy for support above...

Just lost my detailed reply I'll be brief this time...

As that thread revealed, some did want it, but only a couple or so, and with my aforementioned welding skills... I had to use the welder at my cousin's sign shop, and that wouldn't be so easy now anyways...

Between the info and photos in that thread, and a few PM's, others have made their own w/o much drama...

I copy everything now b4 I hit "Submit Reply."

Does anyone know where I can find carpet that is of the same type of the one in the mini? It does not have to be a dead on match. I am not happy with what i have on my panel and want to replace it. I will be redoing the logo as well. I could not find the mini wing mouse pad. Does anyone know where i can pick one of these up as well? Your help is appreciated.

Garrett

While going through my MINI receipts, I just confirmed that I got the mousepad online, from MINI USA... Oh, try some auto upholstery shops as they usually have quite a selection...

I checked on miniusa and they do not carry the mousepad. I guess i am out of luck! :(

Stopping at an upholstery shop near by that will see if they have anything in stock for me to pick up.

Thanks,

Garrett

Tony, thanks for the help, but that is the wrong mousepad. I will try and look further into it. I will check with my dealer to see if they have anything like that sitting around.

Thanks again!

Anything new? I'm getting tired of jamming my golf clubs into the back seat.

Other kits?

I'm guessing that we may never see the much rumored rear seat delete kit. As such, does anyone feel like taking over the project? I don't have the tools, skills or the time to build a properly engineered cover panel, but I'd definitely buy one from somebody. Or if someone has a very easily replicated template that I could get the guys from home depot to follow, that would work just as well.

thanks,
vin.

You guys will be happy to know that a finished prototype now exists! I should have photos, pricing, and product details available this week.

Due to the different demands of every driver, we've taken a unique approach to the kit's design. The exterior surface is textured and hardened black ABS plastic, with rolled edges for a nicer finish. The kit is ready to go as is, but we are leaving it highly "modify-able" meaning you can add carpet, vinyl, leather, or other coverings. It's also easy to drill holes in the kit for other creative mounting ideas, such as for harnesses, tie-downs, etc.

As for the ability to store stuff underneath, we didn't build the hinged design into it simply because there's barely enough storage room there for a couple Tshirts. So it wasn't cost effective to have it raise up, and worry about all the extra design issues involved there. It's a solid panel, and very very strong. It will not crack, or break under pressure. It will hold the weight of a human being, but is not designed to be a replacement for a rear seat. Meaning no passengers allowed back there.

It uses factory mounting holes (3) so there's no drilling or modification to the car. For best results, theres a minor slit to cut in the rear carpet cargo piece, but if the seats are reinstalled at any time, it's unnoticed due to it's location.

Before I go any further, let me talk to the NAM admins about vendor status again. That's why I've been so quiet on here, was to wait until the product was finished and our vendor status was reinstated.

PM for more questions, or wait till I release some more info on the website and here on NAM.

You take out 42 lbs, and replace with 6 lbs, so a nice 36# drop. That does NOT include the rear shelf, jack, or seat belts.

So you said you would be able to put the rear seats back in. How hard would this be? I should be able to do this myself right? Barely ever need the backseats, only for roadtrips! By the way it looks very clean and professional

For the harnesses, it will be up to you to cut them out to your desired specs. If we have the info in time, we may provide a template or marked locations on the underside of the kit to punch out.
