I had the airbag light turned off today.
Go home, disconnect the battery, disconnect the airbag cables(again), install the 3.3ohm resistor, connect the battery, key in the ignition and the damn light is on again!!!
Out 50 bucks and a trip to the dealer.

WTH am i doing wrong?!

Ok which light are you talking about, the one in the instrumentation panel or the one above the mirror which just has a light that says "off".

If its the instrumentation panel light then I haven't a clue.

If its the light above the mirror then I have to ask, did you have something weighty in your passenger seat? That seat has a weight sensor and when it detects a low weight it turns off the passenger airbag because if a child were in that seat an airbag could do serious damage. I had a heavy binder on it today and it surprised me by coming on. I thought it would take more weight than that.

Let us know which light it is...

If it is the light I saw in his car, it is the speedo light, not the weight light.

The airbag light on the speedo. I'm replacing the seats and following everyone's instructions using the resistor in the airbag wire thingy. The yellow one. Black is for the seat belts, don't know what the blue one is for. I even got the resistors that already have the correct guage wire so no soldering needed.
Anyway, the stoopid light is on again.

Blue is for the explosive belt tensioner. Why didn't the light come on driving back from the dealership? Had you reinstalled the stock seats?

Invest that $50 in an OBD scanner It'll pay for it self in 3-4 resets plus you can actually see what's going on inside your Mini.

Not only can you reset any fault lights but tell what what set it off in the first place. It can also provide real time read outs of multiple sensors through a Palm PDA.

Once you have a reset tool you can determine if one or both seats trigger the light. It may be one of the seats wiring (hecho on MON or Fri.)

Or, are the resistors to fake the SRS because they have no thorax bags?

Misfit you are a true gadget freak, and so is D2. You could both use headliner consoles, because your both going to run out of room soon

Here's the link:

This is a great set up. You need a compatible PDA if you don't have one. I bought an used Clie' and have it semi-permanently connected to the OBD port. In my case, I also purchase a splitter cable on Ebay with both the serial and USB connector for my PDA so I can charge it while driving. It's also got a Dyno too This is the same setup Ryephile is using to test his Mini's performance gains except he's got an awesome phone/PDA combo. I've already reset many fault codes once I figured out the problem by cross referencing them with the Bently service manual.

I would like to see some proof that this tool can actually read and set/reset the SRS (airbag) controller. This appears to be a standard OBD scan tool (of which there are a bunch to pick from - scantool.net, digimoto.com, etc.). To the best of my knowledge, the SRS module is not accessible via a standard OBD scan tool.

Please prove me wrong, because there are a lot of people who would like this functionality.

I can't vouche for the SRS light as I've never tripped that one. Maybe Rye can chime in:smile:

There was no mention of SRS on their website, which I doubt was an oversight.

MSFITOY, for the good of the motoring community, you should deliberately trip your airbag light and test this out for us. Think of the impact you will have if it works!!!
