Since the AFF mimics you turning on the front fogs whenever the lights go on, you now have an interaction!
If, say, the auto headlights come on in a tunnel, the AFF will also turn on the front fogs. Now when you exit the tunnel back to full daylight, the auto headlights will not automatically turn off again.
So you have something like "auto once headlights" instead.

If the fog lights are on, the auto headlights stop being auto headlights and just become "on" headlights.
At least until you turn off the fog lights - only when you do that will the auto headlights turn themselves off, assuming it is light enough that they decide to do so.
The "problem" with AFF is that it does not know if it is light or dark - if the lights come on, it turns on the front fogs, and from then on the auto headlights stay on.
