Roadmate 700 + Better Install?

Guys,

I am in search for some genius. I just purchased a RoadMate 700 GPS unit and I am very happy with it--except for one thing--the mounting.

It comes with a windshield mount and honeslty I can't find a place that I like it. I tried briefly putting the suction cup on the big-*** speed-o gauge and I liked the position of the GPS. However I was fearful of what might happen to the speed-o plastic so I removed it.

What I want is to find a way to mount it in a clever way that comes up from perhaps the ashtray area or perhaps directly to the right of the radio on the plastic piece by the glove box.

The idea is to have a mount there that the suction cup would stick to and remove the whole mess when I don't need it.

Thoughts?

I used a Panavise mount to secure my Roadmate. The advantage of the Panavise is that it is removable (if you disassemble the down tubes) and does not leave any adhesive residue on the car.

Choose the one you like best.
