Aero kit question

Has anyone ever weighed the components of the aero kit and compared them to the weight of the pieces the kit replaces?

The difference, if any, is probably insignificant. But I seem to be obsessed with the "add lightness" philosophy lately.

I haven't weighted mine, but unless you have differences in weight by
100lbs increments, you're not going to be able to tell a difference in your
performance.

Usually its about 0.2sec improvement in acceleration per ~100lbs.

Sometimes it's all in how you get to that 100 pounds. It's a lot easier to remove 1 pound from 100 places than it is to remove 100 pounds from 1 place. I have doubts that there is any difference at all, but I just thought I'd see if anyone else had even considered it.

If I was seriously worried about the weight, I wouldn't have bought a car with a sunroof or the Premium package.

I was only asking for curiosity's sake; whether or not it weighs more (or how much more or less) doesn't really matter.

Actually the weight of the aero kit parts is a valid question.
Assuming that the materials are similar then the design would determine the relative weight. Hardware is similar since the mounting points are the same.
Usually the inner door sill is removed and not replaced but the outer side skirts get a small additional grill.

Another concern is the paint process/ paint weight- if similar to factory in number of coats and clear coats then it should be close. If you paint the fender arches then that adds paint.

I'd guess that the weight would be pretty close and maybe a bit heavier with the painted aero kit with painted arches. Maybe 5 pounds difference if that much which would be minimal.

Anyone that has an unmounted aerokit can weigh the front and rear bumpers ,side skirts and grilles. Then remove the stock parts and weigh all of them for a comparison number. If the two totals are close then add the weight of the primer and paints to the aero total to get the difference.
