Customized Gauges

So...I hate the orangish-red backlight that all gen 1 gauges have. I find it very difficult to read the LCD display; especially at night. So I changed out the illumination LEDs to blue, & the needle LEDs to red. I also switched out the DSC LED to green (not so annoying when it's off). The camera doesn't quite do it justice. The needles are the same color as the stock redline graduations, & the blue is very soft & easy on the eyes; not to mention much easier to read at night. I think I will go with brighter LEDs for the LCD backlight.

Blue Backlit Gauges

I plan on doing the heater buttons & switch pack tomorrow.

Looks good! Any instructions on how to do it for members who also like to do this change?

Removal & disassembly of the gauges isn't too tough. But if you don't have access to a hot air pencil, it might be difficult to remove the old LEDs. I suppose you could do it with a pin-point soldering iron; just don't lift the pads!

The real trick is getting the candela rating for each location; they're not all the same.
