Help Needed on Installation of

auto dimming mirror. I installed the auto dimming mirror this weekend and as my car did not have the wiring connector for it I had to tap into the clock wiring. Unfortunately (and for some reason unknown to me) MINI decided that the power lead to the clock is hot all the time even though the display only lights up when the ignition is on. So my question is will it be a problem to have power to the mirror all of the time?
If someone knows where I can tap into a switched 12 volt circuit in the area of the clock please let me know.

It's really not that hard to run a wire down to the fuse box. I did that for my radar detector. The wire can be tucked up under the headliner and then behind the side cover by the windshield and then tucked behind the dash.
