OEM guage attachment point(s)?

Anyone have the OEM guages (between the downtubes) and removed them for any reason? I'm going to install Ian's Auto-up module in a friend's car - and she has the guages. A cursory look didn't reveal exactly how the guage 'pod' is attached. Before I start ripping her car apart I figured I'd see if I can benefit from someone else who had already done this.

It appears to attach at the bottom, but it's not obvious (to me) how to get it out so I can reach the panel behind it.

TIA!

It is attached by screws up from the bottom of the consol. You'll have to remove the tubes and consol to get at them. Do a search for installation instructions for the factory gauges and you will see whats what. Good luck.

I have the gauges and have installed Ian’s ckt. When I did the install I followed his instructions on how to remove the down tubes. I was able to slide the shift consol back far enough to get to the one screw that needs to be removed to gain access to the compartment that the ckt. will be hidden behind. I did not need to remove the gauges.

Thanks, Steve - I was hoping I could just work around them. So you had to unbolt the console as well as removing the downtubes?
