Cost to dechrome

Hi there. First timer here (forum and as amino owner!).

Wondering How much is everyone paying for OEM de-chroming (lights, grille, handles, gas cap). Looking to get it done and want to make sure it’s a fair price.

Is the general consensus to have to have it done by Mini or elsewhere? I’m not a diy kind of girl (when it comes to cars anyway).

Thanks!

Search the vendors from the Vendor listing on this site and order the parts from whomever will give you the best deals. Find a local shop or handy person to install. Most are pretty easy to do. I vinyl wrapped the gas cap, think it looks a lot better than what you can buy and was a lot less money. Might even want to find a good vinyl installer shop and see what they will charge. Probably less money and will last years if done right.

I'd avoid the dealer at all costs for this kind of project.

Thanks @Minnie.the.Moocher - I'm in Canada so I don't see any Vendors here (other than a tuning vendor). I will look into wrapping though, but my preference is OEM (I think!).

If you don't have a local shop that can apply wraps, then check ask around with some local auto body or detailing shops. Most shops should have the ability to do just what you are looking for. Good luck.

I know you said you don't want to DIY, but it is infinitely cheaper than having it done. I have priced it out, and the replacement parts are around $700-$800. I vinyl wrapped all of my chrome trim gloss black, and it cost me a total of $50. Wrapping the parts was super easy, and I actually enjoyed it too.

In comparing prices with the larger european and USA sites - i found that with duty, taxes, and the shipping charges, the final CDN $ was close - in some cases cheaper locally.

Occasionally at least one of my 3 local dealers will have a decent parts/accessories promo on (i snapped a LOT of stuff in a Feb 2019 25% off promo).
