darken chrome details

I don't really like the flashiness of the chrome details on the outside of my Mini. I was thinking I could paint them black, but I'm afraid that would be too dark for my eclipse grey R56. Is there any easy way to darken the chrome that I could do at home?

Either replace with darker ones ($$$) - black is common - or plasti-dip them. Or maybe wrap them with some vinyl wrap?

you could always get some spray tint and prep and lightly coat the chrome to give it a shaded appearance.

depends on your budget really.

You can use Plastidip. That is how I did the beltline on my GP and my Clubman and it has lasted a long time and looks almost stock.

Plastidip might work. But then I got into looking at examples and now my imagination is going crazy. Now I'm thinking smokey grey with the slightest shade of blue. Something not super obvious, but when you look at it, you'll say, "Oh. There's a hint of blue on the chrome." But it still needs to be brighter than the grey of the car itself.
