Interior/Exterior How does one switch the stock MINI seats?
How does one switch the stock MINI seats?
I'm asking as regards both the front and back seats. I've posted a thread expressing my interest in doing a seat exchange with any interested party out there, just because my dealership delivered my car with different color cloth seats from what I ordered (a no longer available option, apparently, *sigh*). I figured someone out there might be interested in my heated Space Gray/Panther Black Cloth sport seats, and it looks like I might be right. Though...LOL...so far, my only response has been from a gentleman that lives on the other side of the country. (Though we might still be able to work it out, somehow.)
Oh well, maybe something can be worked out, or someone closer might be interested. In either case, I'm curious about how the switch would be made. Getting the rear seats out would likely not be too much trouble, as I think several of you here have done that just to reduce weight (not my interest in the exchange). On the other hand, it seems like switching out the front seats might be quite a chore, especially if the proper steps have not been taken. And I also assume there are safety issues to contend with, as the wires for the heating elements, and the airbags (and maybe something else?), have to be unplugged...and then replugged, properly.
I presume the car battery would have to be disconnected, and then...? Well...
...as you can tell, I'm a little uncertain as to the steps, which is why I'm asking. Is this a job that can be done by two (2) untrained people, or is it recommendable that some form of professional (an auto re-upholstery shop?) do the job? And how much would that likely cost? (I was considering getting the seats re-upholstered, but there's just no money for that now, or anytime in the near future.)
Any advice in this area would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
