Is there a good stripe and clear protection installer in the So.Cal. San Fernando Valley area?

Hi Dave!

These guys did my graphics and they did a great job:

http://www.signarama.com/90232/

You can also contact this company that should come to you.
http://autoexprs.com/

Brian does the clear protection and vinyl installs.

Stripe Installer

I got excellent service when I had my viper stripes installed at TRUXIGN in Azuza, Ca.
Telephone: 800 287-8944. email : jim@truxign.com. They do fleet graphics for the large trucks.
I am currently considering an install of the clear bra for my mini by them.
Great guys who treat your Mini well. By the way, I was charged $125 for the install of the viper stripes. The guys went online to the Cooper Flag site and installed from the picture.

I called signarama.com this afternoon and spoke to Jeff, I told him that Richard referred me from NAM, etc, etc. He quoted me $350.00 to install my little bonnet stripes. I thought he was joking, but he said that they are "difficult to install".

Couple questions.

Did you tell him you have your own stripes and you want them installed? Also did you tell him where the stripes were? He's probably thinking you want stripes like mine--which took a long time to get right---mine go over the hump and was cut around the logo.

I have a feeling he just didn't understand where the stripe was.

Well, I got a quote for over 200 and they saw what the stripe was and where it was going. Of course, they bumped it up from $105 30 minutes before my appt. Not happy...
I am going to tempt fate and do it myself. V. scary!

Good luck!

Just FYI, I paid around $275 for all my graphics (windshield URL, boot window URL, 2 color boot window logo, 2 color side window logo on both sides, and unistripe on bonnet--except my meat ball and it was well worth it. They took the time to get it right. At one point, one of the vinyl colors began to peel about 5 months later, and I told them--they said bring it in, it shouldn't be doing that, and they replaced it on the spot.

I supplied the digital files, they cut them out and installed them over a 2 day period. Of course I was their first MINI and they didn't realize that a unistripe on a MINI isn't like a stripe on normal cars.

Pix from the install

Definitely get quotes from other people. Just realize if you bring your own vinyl, and they screw it up, it's not as easy for them to just recut it and do it again, so some installer may not want the liability.

Yeah, I told him exactly what I wanted done (the bonnet stripes).
And yes, I would be bringing my own vinyl. $350.00.

At those rates, got an extremely good deal, Octane guy. Nowadays, they'd probably charge over $1000.00 to install all of your graphics.

It seems that they don't want the business.

I'm doing what Fitz is doing...Tempting the fates by trying it myself. I bought some non-sticking masking tape to outline exactly where I want the stripes before I apply them.

Awww I'm sorry to hear that. I guess I won't be recommending them anymore. I know they gave me a good deal because I was their first and they had a lot of learning to do--and they did tell me that they would charge more for the bonnet stripe next time do to the extra work. It's really too bad they are quoting so high now.

I think I'll give them a call to see what's up.
*******

Ok I just got off the phone with Jeff. Hmmm, he wasn't aware of the technical difficulty difference between the standard bonnet stripe and the unistripe that covers the hood bump. Oh well. Live and learn. But to his credit, he did say vinyl prices have gone up. I don't know how much, but I'm just relaying what he told me.

Did you try calling Brian White of Autoexprs??
http://autoexprs.com/

He's a detailing guy who does Xpel protection and vinyl. Best thing about him he's got a MINI---or I think 2 MINI's now--not to mention he's a pretty good guy as well. LOL.

thanks for the help...I just wanted to get them on before the rally tomorrow, so I did them myself. Aside from a few bubble areas they look great. I HIGHLY recommend getting the stripes with the accent stripe if you plan on doing it yourself, because it's REALLY hard to get the fat part of the stripes completely straight and you can cheat with the accent stripes by putting them partially on the edge of the stripe and on the bonnet.

Yeah, I probably have a a few more blemishes on the stripes than I would accept if they were done professionally, but it's not anything that anyone would notice at the rate that I drive Nor do I plan on entering my car in the Concours D'Elegance this year. Maybe next year, and I'll spring for another $25.00 set of stripes and the cost of a professional installer.

Until then...

If you did a "pretty good" job putting on the stripes this time you can do a "very good" job next time. Just think about the problems you had and talk it over with other folks who have installed stripes before. There's no reason you can't do as good a job as a professional installer. Use the money you save for another MINI mod.

You got that right! I could get that XM with the Blitzsafe adapter at the full price and have money left over for four tanks of gas. Not to mention the satisfaction of performing my own mod.
