Interior/Exterior Aero Kit $$$???
just about to install retro fit aero gril on stock mini s, much less expensive and can be done. go to web site for further instuctions, http://www.r53w11.com
I have the complete factory aero kit, painted (including fenders) installed at the time of purchase by my dealer. I totally recommend the kit as it makes your Cooper S look completely bad-*** and gets rid of all the cheap looking black exterior elements. I paid full price for it, but since it was part of my purchase (bought a floor model back in July '02) I have no complaints at all and would recommend it to anyone who sees the value in adding it. I've seen aero kits around where the fenders aren't painted and it makes a huge difference. Get 'em painted, it totally rounds out the profile of the car.
Unfortunately I'm paying top dollar for the front bumper for the aero kit, because the body shop is ordering all parts directly from the manufacturer (insurance policy), but I know that Classic Auto Campus has Aero Kit parts for cheap. I actually purchased the Aero hood and upper bumper grilles from CAC, because I was initially going to install them in the stock bumper to save some $, but after the crash I decided to go with the whole kit-n-kaboodle. Still saved about 12% on the grilles, saved a heck of a lot more on the rally lights.
Just my $0.03 (inflation).

P.S.
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, have your dealer install the rally lights, they rip you off. I think that the Accesories Catalog states that installation is something outrageous like $1700! That's crap for 2 hours labor. Better off doing it yourself or going to your local mechanic/body shop.

I am still wavering on wether or not to get the dealer installed aero kit. They want $2800 installed. I found the same factory kit online (just the kit, no installation, no paint) for $1200. This is the entire kit, front grills and sides as well.
Nearly 3K is steep, but it will be warrentied and completed before delivery without hassle.... like I said, I'm still wavering. I need to make up my mide soon, 'cause my baby is on the DON JUAN!!!!
I agree with Carroll, it makes your Cooper look BAD ***!!! I am not a big fan of black rubberized trim.

Looking at the accessories catalog and I don't know where you got that $1700 figure. My brochure says the driving lights are $400 and installation price will vary by dealer. If you like them, ask your dealer about it. A reputable dealer should install these for less than $100.

My dealer was charging a required 1700.00 "dealer option package" above MSRP. I negotiated and got the aero kit instead and paid 1900.00 for it installed and painted and did not pay the 1700.00. So he made 200.00, so what. Get the aero kit, It totally completes the car.

I checked with my dealer about this (Crevier MINI in Santa Ana), and they told me only $895, installed. I've seen the installation procedure, and it is WAY out of my scope. I think that $400 is a bit steep for 2 hours labor as well, but knowing that they will work the way that they are supposed to and that the windsheild wipers won't activate when I roll down the windows would be worth the extra $$ to me. just my $.02
