QUESTION: I'm ordering an all black S soon, and having difficulty trying to decide on either magnesium or black door casings with the platina alloy dash. I saw a magnesium door casing with platina alloy dash at the Miami International Auto Show and it looked pretty nice. The contrast with the alloy platina on the door along side the magnesium color was quite nice. However, the magnesium door casings might be harder to keep clean than the black door casings. I was thinking with an all black S the contrast with the lighter magnesium color might lighten up the interior somewhat.(I'm ordering black leatherette seats). I also understand that the magnesium is not continued in the back seat area that area remains black. Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm in Florida and I can't understand why people
get black cars down here.....hot. But, aside from that,
I'd go with the black.

personally I prefer the Panther black door casings to the magnesium

Here's the little list of things that irk me about the mag door casings

1) the trim doesn't extend to the BACK, since it's just the doors, it looks a little out of place.

2) The mag doors aren't textured in the same way as the panther door casings

3) From outside the vehicle, if you look at the front edge of the window near the mirrors, you can see the little upticked lines of the door casing that extend up into the corner of the door. It's a little unsightly.

My choice would be the Panther black door casings with the Anthracite dash.

But that's just me. BTW, solid black looks very nice on the MINI (cooper or S), I'm sure you'll enjoy the car a lot.

I'll second all of DaveInDenvers points, and also stress cleanability. My past experience with light gray interiors was that they mark-up very easily, and can be impossible to get clean. I went with the black myself.
