Howdy folks. I've done a search for "remove speedo bezel" and it seems to be geared towards 1st gen minis so I'm looking for instructions on how to remove the huge center speedo glass from my R56 with boost cd radio. It looks like fingerprints on the back of the glass and it's driving me nuts.. If I'm missing a 2nd gen thread I apologize; just point me in that direction.




Please ignore the dust on the outside of the glass.

One last thought: for some reason, air seems to blow through the stereo and speedo on my 2013 R56s. I wonder if what you see might be dust or condensation from this air flow, rather than fingerprints? Before disassembly, you could try an air spray can with fine nozzle and blow around the stereo rim, to see if that makes a difference?

Thanks for the reply. I'll check to see if it's dust but I seriously doubt it is. It's almost as if it's the leftover ring of condensation or more likely fingerprints and definitely on the inside of the glass.

That FES manual was by far the most helpful. Walked me right through it! Had the lens off, cleaned and back on in under an hour. Thanks again!

Would you post back if the problem returns? I just wonder if zephyr's air blowing theory holds any weight. His was the first time I saw anybody mention this - my '09/'12/'14 MCS all seem(ed) to do this. Usually not noticeable until it gets cold out.

Taking the lens off it's just clipped on the face of the speedo with no dust seal so I can see where dust or other contaminants could get in there. If you look closely at the pic I posted you can see small circles just above the radio control; thats what I was talking about and was definitely not dust.

I'll post if the problem re-occurs.

I tried using an air can and could never find an access point. After looking at the FesAuto instructions it seems to confirm that an air can would never work.

Thanks for posting those instructions. Also, I'm in a roadster and the glare on the dial is just horrendous; looks like I've got that anti glare lens to add to my Christmas list.
