Sony bluetooth kit HCB-30 and HCE-16 mute cable on MINI

Hi All,

I recently purchased the Sony bluetooth kit HCB-30 and HCE-16 mute cable. Does anybody have experience to install it on the MINI? Could you share your experiences with me about,

How to install it with stock CD player with H/k speaker?
How to add the mute cable to back of the CD player?
Where is the best place for the Mic?
Where do you hide the parts and cables?
Any special tips need to know?

I will do my best to document my installation process and create a "how to" to share with others. Thank you for your helps.

Contact MikeytheMINI over on MINI2, he's the pro. He own's newministuff.com.

However, I don't think the HCE-16 is combatible with the MINI, again check with Mikey he knows for sure...

The ericsson mute cable will not plug into the Mini

you could chop off the plugs & chop the factory wiring & join

You also cannot join the mute wire to the HK system if you want the sound to come through the speakers as it tells the HK amp to mute - therefore no sound.

You need an adaptor lead building from the ericsson mute kit to Mini
Or get your money back & buy a Mini HK mute kit that will plug straight in

you know that small grill above your head that doesn't do anything,, it's where the mic would have gone had bluttooth been available, same as the left non-functioning button on the premium steering wheel. it was for bluetooth that never came about.

I have both installed with the HK stereo. The music mutes with no problem. The sound is sent threw both the speakers and the one that comes in the box. The installer had to solder (SP?) the cable. He has access to info for wiring.

One thing you need to know about. The tiny touchpad has a volume on it as well as your stereo. You will need to tweak both of them to get the right amount of sound. If you don't the change over from music to a phone call will drive you nuts. One will be loud and the other too low to hear.

Thank you for your reply. Could you give me more information on how to splice the mute cable?
