Exhaust tip mystery

I've had my Borla Race exhaust for over a year now and just within the recent days, I've discovered that the tip rises after a half hour drive. It actually melted the trim. I've disassembled and reassemble the clamps at the rear but no matter how tight I torque them on, they keep rising and I keep pushing it down

I can't figure out what's with this Any suggestions?

I've seen my JCW and a friend's Milltek stick out a little when the exhaust is hot. I've only seen them go straight out, never up, but they defanitly expand when they are hot. Maybe yours is pivoting on a hanger causing it to touch the body.

You might want to have it welded in place. I had mine welded in place and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

This exact same thing happens with my Magnaflow and I havent bothered trying to fix it or even take a look at it. I did however rip that little piece of melted plastic off :P

The tip movement is definitely heat related. The metal expands as the normal operating temp is reached. My Magnaflow will "grow" about 3/4" in length. They always move straight out as mentioned by early_apex. I've never had a curving problem.

After the fifth time I jumped out and cursed the pipes...I stuck a wrench into the tail pipe and looked underneath as I pushed down. AH HA...it was the clamps ahead of the mufflers that were loose. No one got that right
