Trick My Mini!!!

OK guys - you are the experts. I CAN'T decide what to do with my PW MC .

I love this car, but it seems unfinished. Most stripes I've seen seem to clash unless they are black. And the black stripes seem "busy". I know what looks good when I see it but I have NO talent at imagining it. HELP

I want it to look classy and can't think of anything. Chrome mirrors?? I also want some driving lights but have the same problem.

Please offer suggestions AND PICS!!!

eternally grateful owner of a bland PW MC

J-Didi,

Lots of options.
How about a recent picture with those Konig Heliums 15" with Falken tires?

Things to think about-
Dark tint on windows
Stubby antenna
Rear roof aero spoiler in black
White Meatball with black racing number
Twin rally lights
Aero side skirts, wheel arches and bumper trims painted Dark silver
Helix, Rogue, or Rspeed cat-back exhaust!
BMP/Promini intake for MC.
Eibach lowering springs.

Defanitly tint the windows
Get chrome side vents
Consider painting the grill slats white
Painting the wheel arches white on your car would look great.
MCS chrome gas door.
I'm not big on pinstriping, but you might be able to pull of a green pinstripe to accent your seats.
Green mirror covers could look neat, but might look like crap.
Get a stubby antenna

I agree that silver bonnett and boot stripes may look great. You might also think about green stripes that match, The meatball idea is also a good one. I own a vinyl graphics company and have been experimenting with different ideas on my own Mini, I've just created dark silver bonnett stripes with inlaid flames for my 02 pure silver MC. If you're interested in some different stripes or graphics shoot me a line at bigkahuna@tribaltuna.com.

other ideas

...collected from the images of others...I apologize I don't have an image credit for each one...

however, they illustrate great visual mods IMO

1. the silver MINI is of Japanese origin. He did a great job with the overall look of the car: Aero sides, painted arches, custom grille badge, nice wheels
2. a recent web grab with nice black wheel choice on a PW/B and painted calipers
3. a nice positive/negative stripe combination

kudos to the three lucky contestants who are yet again held up as shining examples on the web

Wow great ideas!! I never thought about silver skirts etc. The dark tint sounds pretty cool too.

My wheels are supposed to be in THIS WEEK!!!! I'd like to see pics of them too!!! (I've been waiting a while).

I think the 15 in 205/50's will lower the car some?? Would springs maybe level it? (get rid of that "high rear end trucky look")

The thing that originally drew me to my MC was the green interior and the "retro" look of the PW. schweeeet . I've thought about green bonnet stripes but wasn't sure how it would look with all the black.

anybody have pics?

Thanks in advance

you could do a dark black-green stripe...

dark tinting is a must-do..

the springs will reduce the wheel arch gap not the 15" tires. I have also pondered this idea with a rear swaybar but have not the greenbacks to have it materialize...

Yes, coinage is always an issue. How do you think chrome mirror caps would look?? Or the checkered flag caps???

My tire guy said my heliums are on order but may be next week

I've only seen chrome domes on dark cars...I think the black looks good with the PW although the checkers could be cool except that it would be black and white and not black and pw

the pic shows a buddy's chromies on his IB/B

I think I speak for others when I say I would love to see pics of the green interior!

I think you'll want to decide on a theme first... Like do you want to keep it looking like a semi-OE factory look? Or do you want to make it look like a custom original with aftermarket parts?

If you want to keep it a semi-factory look, I would suggest getting the factory
driving lights and perhaps a ghost stripe on the bonnet, finish off with
lowering springs. Keep those wheels and tires, they look good on the car.

If you want to make it a custom looking cooper, then I would suggest a body
kit, perhaps painted arches in gray, 17in dressupwheels, lowering kit, a more
dramatic bonnet stripe (black, silver) and a clean stainless exhaust, aftermarket
driving lights, and finish off with a nice front lip diffuser (Hamann).

Good idea Kenchan. I definately am more "old school." I really like the retro aspects. I guess that means more of an OE look. But MAN the OE stuff is like double some of the aftermarket products

I guess I'll classify it as a James Dean era (when ever that was ) style rally/ street racer. Distinctive, but classy.

P.S. I'm post 35 with wife and two kids so that might explain why I'm not too much into bling.

Thanks for the input

Checked stripe

Cooperflags.com has some cool possibilities. I think their checker stripe could work on your car: You could do black checkers on the bonnet and boot, and white on the black roof to continue the stripe across both body colors.

Here's the link: http://cooperflags.com/BonnetDetail.cfm?ID=6

More stripes here: http://cooperflags.com/bonnets.cfm

I think you have to keep it simple with the graphics, since your car is already 2 colors. Adding green stripes or some other color will clash and be too busy, in my opinion.

Thanks for the input. Nfo, that does look tight  .

Here's a question - what about a black carbon fiber hood???? I know M7 has one for MCS. Would that fit on a cooper? .

Oh, and check out the green interior of this classic cooper. And I thought mine was like an original idea or something.

The M7 carbon fiber hood is about $900 and different models will fit the MCS vs the MC - they are not interchangeable. You do loose quite a bit of weight but you'll have to pay labor to remove and install the bonnet.

The classic MINI interior shows you how classic that idea is and so retro.
Must be nice on St.Patricks Day.

A green bonnet stripe? Offset over the bonnet and down the rear hatch? With a white meatball and number over the stripe on the bonnet?

To go with the green, what if you did offset driver's side a 10" dark green with a 2" dark orange stripe on the outside of it. Maybe a 1" gap between the two.
OR do a 10" with 2 2" on either side like the cooper flags' racing stripe in dark green with black pinstriping.
It would be cool if you could find someone with metallic or large metal flake green vinyl.
Just some brainstorming...
