F56 shift *****

Will all GEN2 shift ***** work on GEN3 manual transmission? Any recommendations on aftermarket products?

My understanding it the shaft hasn't changed. I got my **** from Whalen Shift Machine and I love it. He said he didn't have to make any changes to his gen 2 ***** for the gen 3.

I only have experience with the F56 so couldn't comment on whether or not earlier ones might fit but the one thing I will say is that the F56 shifter's shaft is unique and only probably will take a very few shift *****. The head has a slotted way in it, no threads. In other words, aftermarket shift ***** that thread on will probably not work on the F56. If that's what you are looking for, then you will want something like the Cravenspeed aftermarket shifter, which has a conventional M12 threaded shaft.

I don't, but I'll see if I remember to get one later today.

shmandrew. I had that **** on my r56 too. It was a huge improvement over stock. Do you feel the same on the f56?

Definitely. I had this in my Countryman and I think it's an even bigger improvement in the F56. I really did not like the feel of the stock **** so I was really happy to find out that this fit. If only I could use my Gen 2 Alcantara JCW steering wheel in the F56...

I just put a stock R56 **** on my F55, and it needed some minor filing. Because a new R56 **** doesn't come with the ring attaching the boot to it, I had to reuse the F55 one, so I had to file one of the ****'s slots wider, and also file down the height of the ring so it would fully seat. I suspect if you had the R56's ring with the ****, it'll be a direct fit.

Mine is now on. Feels great but it does lengthen the **** so makes for a slower change...

Did you guys remove the trim ring (base of the boot) from the console before yanking the shift **** off?

I just picked up an F55 last week; and of course, the stock shift **** has to go.

On my two 2nd-generation MINIs, the trim ring was fairly easy to snap out of the console; then I could remove the **** and separate it from the boot.
This trim ring does not seem like it's going to go peacefully..

The trim ring just pulls up very easily. It uses spring clips. Just make sure you unplug the connector. The release is on the back edge....

Craven Speed just announced that their new (weighted) shift ***** for the F56 are available. I'm buying one with their brown top cap (6 speed engraved pattern) that matches my brown interior. Their red cap is shown. Different color are available to perfectly match your interior color. You can pick from a number of cap designs or do a custom engraved cap.

I'm with CobraBob. I'm ordering mine today, received an email from Cravenspeed yesterday that it was available with a free shipping code. I'm not sure how the **** comes from them. I like the black **** with red top as pictured, does that mean I order a black **** then add the red cap for an additional $30 or does the black **** come with a red cap????

For those that have installed the JCW ****: Do you need to remove the plastic ring inside the gaiter, before pulling off the old ****?

The ***** comes with a cap in your choice of Brown, Red, Black or Gray (the interior options for the F56). You can also choose the 6 Speed pattern, or some other pre-made designs...or something of your own design for a little extra.

Thanks for the additional info, Kellen. Can't wait to get mine.

They're in stock, right? My order status is still Awaiting Fulfillment. I was hoping to get it before Saturday.

Hmm tempted to fit an R56 JCW CF **** to my F56, as I miss that, it had a quality feel to it compared to the F56 JCW one. Have they not made a CF F56 one yet?

Is the shift stroke on the f56 shorter than the r56?
If not, can you get an adjustable short shift kit like you can for the r56/58.

Thanks,
