The GF4 card would probably be your best bet overall, especially if it has TV out. Everything you have there should run fine with the 150 watt supply.

Check out CarX a free program to work with the BMW IBUS. You mount a computer in the trunk and it displays and controlled by Nav buttons and others MSFW etc.

Thats what I'm thinking of doing. Especiallly if Icelink plus doesn't deliver with the promised ID3 tags etc.

Questions

Hello fj0

I will start my carputer fabrication and installation in my MC-40 next week. What I wanted to ask you is this:

Which brand and size is the LCD screen installed in your car?
How bad is the air conditioning panel relocation?

As far as my project goes, I have the first components lined up:

Compaq M300 Laptop (P2-233/128Mb/15GB HD/USB/1PCCARD) (It's really small and can be installed where the CD Changer goes inside the boot)
Windows 2000
Frodo Player www.frodoplayer.com
Mini Cooper Skin from http://febsperanza.3plast.com/

Still undetermined is the GPS. I have installed in my car a Palm Tungsten T with Mapopolis, with an Emtac Bluetooth GPS. It's fine for HWY directions, but the combination have not enough horsepower for quick driving and route change on the fly.

I have read a lot about the MapMonkey and Destinator, and I will probably take that path as well.

Project is a go, and I will post the progress. Also, I found awesome fabrication tips in www.mp3car.com.

Thank You all!

I'm sorry if I confused anyone, that is not my setup, I wish it was though.

Good luck and keep us updated!
