Agreed. Joey mod or buy the black housings, swap the electronics and sell the chrome one on here.

I bought carbon fiber inserts from Duell AG NA.

They rock.

Fitment is spot on, like a glove; however the price is $$$$.

Headlamps

I bought these black headlamps and have had them on my MINI for over a year. They are great looking but a very poor lamp. They are like candles when driving in the dark and my full beam(brights) do not work at all but I have to have them otherwise the alternative sucks!

I'm in the same boat man, blacked out everything but still stuck with the chrome bi-xenons, and don't really want to risk the joey mod. But yeah the factory black-out bi-xenons are $741 a piece from the stealership!

Any aftermarket housing you purchase is always going to be crappier quality than your factory housings in my opinion. Doesn't matter if you spend $200 or $23478236478.

If you want to keep your factory housings (and the quality that comes with it), check around local shops to see if they can paint the inner housings. I guess this is what people call the "joey mod?" I had this done on my old Acura TSX last year because I too, had projectors but hated that chrome housing. Best investment is just having them painted.

PLUS, having them painted gives you options! You can color-match the projector shroud (or do any color you want), and you have matte and gloss options.

The place I did mine at, and just had my MINI retrofit done at, does this if you ship them the housings. Takes 2 days to complete, that's it. Pricing? Not sure, but probably depends on what specifically you want done. www.facebook.com/HIDPro // www.hidpro.com

.. I just checked and they do have photos of my old Acura on their website. No close ups, but you can still see the blacked-out housings. All of it used to be chrome. Look for the Blue Acura in their photos section. They use DuPont or Nason paint, and all chrome pieces are sandblasted first .. paint doesn't stick well to chrome.

This is what they did to my MINI
