concerned about long term durability and comfort vs. space cloth. Any opinions?

It's vinyl, but it's really really NICE vinyl. As some people have said on here, it's not immediately obvious that it's not leather. It seems substantial enough and yet supple enough (not brittle at all) to last for many years. I'm very happy with my choice. And (as opposed to space cloth), it very easily cleanable.

I agree. I LOVE my leatherette. No one can tell it's not leather unless I tell them. Plus, I've had some experience with leather (in a loaner MINI) and it just doesn't seem as durable.

The one feature that I didn't get that I really wanted was leather. I have the leatherett. It does clean up nice and will stand up to soccer cleets, however the vynl is very hot in the summer. In my other vehicle I have leather and it is more comfortable in the hot summer months. If you don't mind spending a few extra bucks my vote is for the leather.

I opted for the RED KALEIDO cloth Seats - With a Velver Red exterior. Does anyone else have this combo? I think the red jazzes up the car a bit and I appreciate the texture that it adds to the interior. Although I won't have my car for another month, I did see a Chili Red Black Top MC with RED KAELIDO cloth - it looked GREAT. I chose the Velvet Red body because it's less common and "Disguises" the mini in a way - the White top and wheels will certainly call attention and say "MINI" while the Velvet Red will mellow it out a bit.

In anticipation

When I saw the space cloth, it was clear I would not go for leatherette. To my taste it looks better, the two tone is great, it is more comfortabble in the summer and in the winter and for a sport car, it is not as slippery as leather(ette) so again more comfortable...and I hate to have my back wet in the summer.

It is obvious that it is not easy to clean once dirty, my kids are adults now and I do not eat in the car, there are better places for that.

I'm very happy with the space cloth. and it looks great

I have the profile leather... it seems pretty durable, and it clings to your butt on hard corners, always a good thing. You just have to get used to the little nobules.

Yep, leatherette is genuine plastic.

You have to say it like this: "the leather is smoove as buttah!!!"

Honestly, I got the leather because I like the scent of it. I would have gotten the leatherette but in the long run if you take care of the leather it is probably more durable.

I'm trying to get my dad to get the lapis blue when her orders his DS/DS MCS, but he doesn't like it... its all about the comfort, man! The comfort! Not that profile isn't comfy, but I keep hearing so much about the lapis...

I'll vouch for the Leatherette... and the fooling people, even after they've sat in it, well, that's happened to me too...

I have to agree with Owner-of-Sprog.

I wasn't sure about getting the Profile leather, and almost went with cloth instead.

Profile leather take a little getting used to.. mainly because it looks different, but it really grips you into the seat, and it doesn't get hot (like you would expect of regular black leather). I think air flows around the little nubbies..

now I recommend the Profile leather!

I would venture to say that anyone who has ridden on the MINI leatherette (cannot comment on any other leatherette) will say that it is not slippery. These seats hug you quite well - and I've actually had to use some effort to "scooch" around when not in the optimum position.

Additionally, with the heated seats, there is little if anything to complain about for winter months. As for the summer, I don't live in the Sunbelt, but during our upper 90 degree streak this summer, I had no complaints - However, I can't say that I left it in the sun with the sunroof open and then jumped in with shorts on.

I wasn't sure I could get used to the Profile leather, so I opted for the leatherette - better than vinyl. I'm very happy with my choice.

Eh, the cow would be killed anyways. For my meal! Mwahaha! ... now I'm hungry.

So, I'm known as owner-of-Sprog now? Works for me... heh. The car defines the man, I guess...

One thing to add about the leatherette:

I wish it had been available in multi-tone. I would loved to have gotten a color-combo interior on my wonderful leatherette sport seats! I think that a grey/black would have been perfect for Molly!

Just imagine the additional possibilities for personalization of your MINI!!! I think that it would be really hard to find two identical ones if you could get colored leatherette!

MINI are you listening?
