From what I've seen of these lights, just the top half of the ring is lit with headlights? Is that right? and then with the headlights off, its the whole ring? Is there anyway to change that?
Aside from the price, I was liking the look of these until I saw that. Defeats the purpose of a uniform ring of light if they don't use the whole ring..
I agree, that's a big negative for me too. I'd like the full ring lit with my headlights on.

It would be wayyy too bright if the whole ring was used with the headlights!!! Those rings are very bright. Even with standard drl turned on, only top half of fog lights up. It's called position lighting.
Are they really that bright? It's always hard to judge lights from pictures. I know just the top half lights up with the oem setup and I never liked it and am considering the led drls from outmotoring again for that reason. If these are really that bright I might give them more thought. Just to clarify, you meant just the ring right? If the fog function comparable to a halogen bulb? I can't imagine the distance is there..?
The rings are designed to be seen in bright daylight so yes, they are pretty bright. The quarter ring at night maybe isn't the perfect solution, but I almost always have the fogs on when the headlights are on. The are much brighter than the original fogs and throw very wide and light up the area below the headlight throw as they were designed to do.

Yes, they are VERY bright, and led fogs are also brighter than the halogens.
It would fail the annual inspection here if it wasn't. It looks like could be according to this picture, although it could say something else and I can't read the rest of it.

Awesome thanks!

Not sure what the others mean, but a guess would be
Front Passenger
Daytime Running Lamp
12 watt
The FP might be European in nature. It's possible that while they are DOT approved they may run afoul of state laws in some places although that could be difficult to verify.

To my understanding they are DOT approved now since MINI has released the hold on these for the US dealers to order them.
