Shift boot base trim ring- anyone ever paint theirs?

I was thinking of painting the bezel (where my JCW shift boot snaps into the console) gloss black. It's currently "fine white silver."

Has anyone ever done this? I figured it would look better matching the gloss black ring on the horn pad/airbag than it does in silver.

Haven't painted that... But other plastics.

2 ways to go about it.
1. Plastic primer (works ok, but takes a week to set)
2. Just paint it, then coat with polyurethane

You ask me, id do 2 before 1. The poly acts as a shield against scratches, and if it becomes scratched, a simple light sand and another blast of poly fixes it right up.
