Nice. I did vinyl myself. I painted my tach ring with satin black. It looks just like the other black plastic in the car. You decided on an exact color yet?

That's a good idea! Looks really good. Lets see the finished product with some gauges. It's always good to be creative and also one of a kind.

i showed this thread to a friend that makes custom motorcycle parts out of carbon fiber

he got excited about it, suggesting building the pods on the left and wrapping the right side in carbon fiber and leaving them both unpainted in raw carbon fiber

he says the added weight of the carbon will be "much less" than using fiberglass

plus, i get to learn how to work with carbon fiber

of course, he is an over the top kind of guy and says we will have to do the outer vents and center mickey-mouse in carbon too

Painted and installed. Won't be the final gauges but you get an idea of what it looks like.

Optical illusion. They are all 2-1/16 gauges.

Excellent works! I admit when I first saw the beginning of this project that I thought it would look unprofessional. I was wrong. Great job!! How about making a brake vent similar to the JCW?

Thanks for the compliment. Brake duct seems like an awful lot of work too cool the rears when they don't really need to be. Now putting r56 skirts on my r53 would be fun.

Night shot. Quick tip - cut the tip off the red bulb cover on autometer gauges to match the orange dash light color.

What a cool project! You have more skills in your pinky finger than I'll ever have.

Does that top gauge ever feel like it's poking you in the eye at night?

No, doesn't come out past the stock a pillar so it feels like it belongs there. I am pleased with how the project came out.

Yeah - I had to go back a couple pictures to see that... All you have to do now is get a mold built. I'm pretty sure that would sell.

Of course, then you wouldn't have the only one.

Costs involved with trying to bring a product to market will not be recouped considering the limited market of gen 1 mini people who want a triple gauge pod. I would make a few for friends potentially but that's it, I like having unique parts.
