Problem with installing chrome hoods coop

Hi folks, I'm new to the forum and a new mini owner. I have a 2012 mcs and I'm trying to switch to the chrome hood scoop. I read the post on how to remove the one on originally and I've done that (broke 2 clips :() Anyways now my problem is I can't get the chrome hood scoop on! The clips on the chrome scoop are ginormous compared to the clips on the original? What am I missing? Seems like everyone else just popped off the original and popped on the new one. Am I supposed to remove the insert that is still in the hood of the car? Here are some pics. First one is of the big clip on the chrome scoop

I just don't see how that big fat grey clip can fit into the white insert, or is the big fat grey clip actually the white insert but a different color? Any help from anybody that switched their hoodscoop would be much appreciated. The chrome hood scoop is a mini original from the parts dept and of course they are closed for the long weekend. I hope the pic links work, please let me know if they don't and thanks to all in advance!

From the photo it looks like the clip is still on the chrome hood scoop. There is actually two pieces on the new scoop. One top piece that's on the scoop like the one your pulled off and bottom piece that is one the hood.

Thank u so much! That's what I figured after I stood there performing CPR to the hood of my car. I managed to break one of the clips on the chrome scoop :( Now my question is how on earth do u remove the inserts from the car or separate the clips from the chrome scoop? I removed the clip and insert from the chrome scoop and tried needle nose pliers but I can't separate them and don't want to damage things anymore.

I think the easy way is to transfer the one that's on your old scoop since they easily come off.

As for taking the two apart I used a scissors and gently pry the two apart.
