Hi Scott...

You are the first R60 customer to ask for grilles (hard to believe but true).
We have no plans right now, but if more R60 owners ask for the part
I'll be happy to make a production run.

Sincerely

Will he make them out of stainless so that they won't rust like his other ones?

E-mail sent. For those that don't know what this part is (I didn't), here's a link:

http://www.m7tuning.com/parts/popup_image2.php?pID=113

How do you guys think this would perform compared to the OEM grille in terms of air flow? I like that it is completely open, whereas the cells at the sides of the OEM grille are closed (though only partially for the cells on the driver's side).

Hi there..
Wish I could tell you that we will, but the R60 has been such slow mover of the few things available that
it's not worth the R&D cost associated with a production run of parts.
You are literally the 5th or 6th person since the car come out that has written me for parts (which is a bummer).

Good Luck

Peter

There is some serious chicken-or-egg stuff going on here with R60 parts. The manufacturers seem to want to wait until people are outside their doors with torches and pitchforks demanding parts. But there is some logic to Field of Dreams marketing: Build it and they will come.

Manufacturers aren't going to sell any parts they don't have in stock.

Very well put. This strategy makes no sense. I understand the need to determine if there is a market for the product, but a lets wait until x amount of people contact us is ridiculous. I would never think about contacting a company that didn't make a product to ask if they would. First of all, how did they start their business? I don't think they had people call them to ask if they could start a business to make parts for Mini's. Do you think Apple waited until people called and said "I know you make computers, but do you think you could make me a cell phone?" How much R&D is there on a mesh grill anyway? I'd bet that the first company to start making products for the R60 could make a killing. I got this car thinking it would have tons of mods being a mini. My Nissan Titan has more, including a mesh grill. That is pathetic.

Thought I would bump this thread to see if there has been any movement on this front (pun not intended). The first email suggests it was a possibility but the email to Ayk suggests they won't. Was wondering if any one has contacted them about this since then.

Assuming M7 is not inclined, I wonder whom we might approach next? DoS, NM, and Tyrol Sport all seem like some forward-thinking developers that might be willing to take a crack at this. With the Paceman out, there will be a bigger market for Countryman-style grilles.

I was going to say Grillcraft, as I have this type of grill on my Nissan Titan by them. Ironically, I checked their website and it seems as if they are the ones that make these for M7.

Good thinking. Heading there now. Maybe post a link here so others can contact them too?

Nice find. I like the bottom piece, and they also have a lip piece that is cool. The top piece looks alright on that dark mini, but they screwed up by making the top so thick. It would make my white mini look like it had a big mustache.

Here's another option from Germany. Prohibitively expensive, though. And would definitely need to be painted black.

I have the Zunsport grills front and back on my R50 and have been waiting for them to do the R60, but nothing yet. Thanks for identifying this other option.

Since M7 got sold, the new owners might be more inclined to offer something for you R60 guys. Wouldn't hurt to try again.

I contacted M7 as soon as I bought my R60 as I had the grills on my R53...I'm definitely on board for having M7 push out parts for the R60 and contacting them as well
