Mom Shift *****

Has anyone used Momo Shift *****, I have in other vehicles. Mini specific. Thinking about this one. Universal mount...no threads so I don't have to worry about the thread match.

Momo Sport Shadow. Cost approx $90.00

Cheers,
Jim

'no threads to worry about' usually means they use a set screw. I've never had a set screw mount that I liked over the long term. I end up keeping an allen wrench in the cup holder to tighten the darn thing daily.

I good friend of mine had a MoMo for years and I recently saw he went back to the original. Said it kept coming loose.

At $90 for the MoMo go a little farther - there is only ONE I'd recommend. Whalen

I had one on my 02S and LOVED it (and sold it easily . . . )

Only reason I don't have one on my 07 is cuz I got the wood grain one with my English Oak

{btw - retired USCG stationed in Alameda 2000 - 2002 as Captain of one of the 'big cutters' there}

Hey Capt....possibly loctite on the set screw. That should do the trick. I like the English Oak, that is sharp.

I had a chrome ball on my Lexus is300 (5 spd) and I left an Oakley bag on it because the chrome would get hot when the sun beat on it...Ouch!!

when I taught at the Univeristy level, on the first day of class I asked the students to not ask questions they already knew the answers to

as I was not the one being assigned a grade for completing the class . . .

I ordered the Momo **** you showed in the first post about a week or more ago. Can't wait to see how it looks in my new Mini!

Should go nice with the carbon fiber scattered throughout the interior. Also its weighted and I didn't want a ball like what Whalen has to offer. So I'll let you know how my MOMO pans out!

I had the Momo shift **** installed, it sits too high. Has anyone had their Mini's shift **** shortened? The new **** sits 2 inches higher then stock.

The Craven short shift adapter might work - it adjusts the throw by adjusting the height of the ****, rather than the linkages.

I have a momo installed and it sits about the same height as oem. It works great and has never come loose. I think the taller ones might loosen easier because of the added leverage. I had one just like your pic but wood/lether in my 72' 2002 and it was always coming loose. The pics in my gallery if you want a closer look.

I've been running a MONO **** for nine years on my 2002 and 2006 R53. Never had any issues with it getting loose once it was installed. Excellent kit with all the correct pieces needed for a tight wobble free fit. The **** that I got is the same shape as the one you showed only in wood instead of the carbon fiber.

I have been a big fan of the Ultrix/Helix Motorsports Short Shift kit. I have had them installed on both of my MINIs. It definitely shortens the length of the throw without increasing the force needed to shift. With the slightly taller **** it means that your hand can reach it faster than if the shift lever were to be made shorter to 'shorten' the throw. The shortened lever really increases the force necessary to shift and means your hand will be off of the steering wheel longer and actually increasing the time it takes to shift. Just look at the shift lever in any rally car, they bring it right up level with the steering wheel so that it is quick and easy to get your hand to and then back on the wheel.

The Cravenspeed short shifter is threaded (and it's awesome).
