Sweaty back!

Hello everyone,

Last week I just purchased a brand new 2012 jcw which unfortunately has the leatherette/vinyl seats. My back sweats like crazy in them and I cant stand them. My GTI has cloth/fabric seats and never had this issue.

Has anyone done a custom interior and just replaced the center part of the seats? I'm thinking of just replacing it with cloth in the middle or alcantara.

I have the leatherette as well in my '03. It was really the only sacrifice I made. I don't do well in the heat, and these 116 degree days are killing me lol!

Anyway, I was told that the seats are easy enough to remove and swap in another set. One time, my husband was at te junk yard looking for a part for my MINI, and the interior of the wrecked MINI he was looking at was perfect, and it was grey/black, which is what I'd prefer. The junk yard wanted a total of $500 for the 2 front seats and rear seat all together! Guaranteed, we can find it cheaper elsewhere, possibly at another junk yard.

I went with a much cheaper option.....towel seat covers. Got offf ebay for $45.00 for 2, in the Black Union jack pattern. Has helped last summer and this one......best inexpensive option out there.....they have numerous patterns to choose from.

If anyone else is doing something about the sweaty back issue let me know because I suffer as well :-(

Wonder what cooled seats would cost if I took it to special shop?

Yeah...me too......sweaty, um, back...not fun here in Florida in August.
I haven't had vinyl seats in a vehicle in so long I forgot how much worse they are than cloth. I tried one of those seat cushions with the blower in my last truck - worked but felt kinda like sitting on a plastic milk crate. :( Also tried the classic beaded seat cushion - not exactly comfy and you tend to slide around a lot - definitely not good in a Mini. I'm thinking of picking up a cheap black towel from Walmart to see if that helps.
Anyone tried the Covercraft (or is it Coverking) mesh or neo-supreme seat covers?

For anyone here who has them, Do Wet Okoles help with "SBS" (sweaty back syndrome)? I like the look of them and it'd be nice if they also help in the Florida heat! Thanks in advance...
