Hi I usually reside over at Mini2 but thought I would get your feedback on an issue I am facing.

Below is the Gennex, Mini Pilo body kit. I got it direct from Gennex in China.

Mini2 link to pics

Basically the kit is not square. The passenger front side and bumper cover pieces are up to 1 inch wider than the drivers side.

They dont think that its important enough to change the molds. Would you accept this?

Thanks

Seems like it was designed poorly. I wouldn't accept this at all...what kind of business refuses to change their molds? If it doesnt fit then they should start over again. Seems shady to me.

You should let mcshp.org know about this.

Seriously, I would just send it back.

Yes Dan, let us know. This is the first i've heard of this kit and I really like the look! If this is just a fluke, I would definitely be interested. That blue mini is hot.

Too bad to hear this; I was just about to write asking about wheels and rubbing issues, and experiences of people who had the kit.. I guess those questions are on hold for the time being. :???: :???:

Hey guys.

I opened up the box today, and did find about 1/2 inch diffrence. that is on the bottom, and about a 1/4 to 1/8th diffrence on the top of the front piece that attaches to the bumper. I also found that every thing else lines up perfectly. I don't think that it would look bad in the wheel gap area, as those pieces are correct.

This is what I see and think.

Thanks
Dan

One thing I really like about OEM aero kit is its perfect fitment and quality finish. The parts are made in Germany by BMW.

I remember experiencing a similar issue when installing an aftermarket aero kit on the Boxster I previously owned. Although the kit was from a well-known manufacture, the quality was sub-par.

Pilo,

Yes the sides line up fine but if you look directly at the car's nose with this kit installed it doesnt look right.

The ENTIRE passenger front from the bumper piece to the end of the front tire well is wider from 1/4- over 1 inches as the arc gets wider.

I don't think that it would look bad in the wheel gap area, as those pieces are correct.
Actually they are not correct Dan. Take a look at the measurements and my pictures again. They are not even close to being the same. Both sides should be a mirror image of the other side. By your commiments here does this mean you will continue to sell this kit in its current form? Mine went back to China with a big note that said " Quality control and attantion to detail is what you expect in our performance parts and we expect nothing less in body kits".

Let me get this straight. Pilo is selling this body kit from Gennex. You ordered it directly from Gennex. What does that have to do with Pilo?

I don't think has has or should have a beef with Pilo, but if this kit is that badly made then Pilo really shouldn't be selling it. From what i've read on the forums so far, Pilo seems to sell only QUALITY mini products. This kit seems like it's far from quality. And again, if this is all true, which it seems to be by Dan's description, he would be doing a disservice to the mini community to be selling such a poor product. Not in his best interest or ours.

I have contacted Gennex and am waiting for a reply. I think that the one that I have here is not as bad as the one that you have. because as I have measured, the othe pieces lined up besides the first piece. I will see if they will update it.
