Interior/Exterior Sunroof UV tint?
Sunroof UV tint?
I'm not that familiar with window tinting since it's never been an issue before, but being that it's not possible to completely shut out the sunlight from the sunroofs, I'd be interested in getting a UV blocking tint applied, but would like it to be clear. Is there such a thing? I know we have it in our house, but that's applied before installation.
I know there are options for closing the roof entirely (e.g. Zippeeshades) but I prefer to have the light come in -- just don't need UVA rays causing cancer and premature aging (and soon we'll have a baby to put in the back seat).
I did a search of the forums and found a lot of info re: dark tints, but haven't seen anything on clear tint.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I am not a parent but I know it is very important to use sunscreen on a small child anytime he/she is outside irrespective as to whether the car has UV tint or not.
For a simple test/proof, those of us with the light sensitive lenses in our glasses will notice that they will not tint when in the car with the windows closed.
Wow that's fantastic! The dealer wasn't aware that the glass offers UV protection.
Yep, we're quite **** about sunscreen (in fact I avoid the sun in general). Neither my husband nor myself look as old as we are (we're in our forties and fifties). I wouldn't be inclined to coat an infant in sunscreen though if she's only going to be in the sun from the door of the car to the door of the grocery store though. However if she's in the car for half an hour I would be very much concerned if the sun were shining in.
I'm sure we'll still get zippee screens and some screens for the side windows to protect her but knowing that the damaging rays are blocked helps a lot. We'll try a UV tester as well just for peace of mind.
Thanks for your reply!

Just to clarify: in this situation I'm more concerned about UVA rays. Windows already block UVB for the most part, hence the lack of tanning and burns when behind glass, but unless specially treated, they do not block UVA which causes cancer and aging.
Tint can block 99.9% UV........... See the Llumar chart here...........
