I recently installed side marker and tail light blackout film on my DS/B MCS for a stealthy look. I am a bit concerned that the tail lights and brake lights may be too dim. Someone told me of the availability of ultra bright bulbs that fit the MINI tail lights but I have been unable to find them. They may be from a euro vendor. Anyone got a link?

Sorry man don't have a link but, if you haven't already, do the rear fog light mod, and your rear lights will be just fine

I had the same concern before I installed the blue protective film over the OEM clear tail lamps. However, with the additional top brake lights after fog light mod, the brightness is actually sufficient.

Davecsumini,

This link may be of great help to you. I have installed the upgraded bulbs into my rear brake lights/turn signals/reverse light/rear fog lights. There is a noticable increase in brightness with these new bulbs. Hope this helps.

How to upgrade the exterior lighting on your MINI

PS: Doing the brake light mod is also a very good addition to the safety of the rear of the vehicle, especially with tinted tail light assemblies.

i have my tailights & side markers blacked out
and i think the stock blubs work fine day & night
btw: the brake light mod is a must (tint or no tint)
i've even been pulled over a couple of times and the cop's didn't even say anything about the taillight tint

I think I will eventually go with the clear tail and sides, but in the meantime, i like the look of the black out film. ( For my DS/B deliv in May )
