Looking for audio help

I have a blown front speaker in my '04 mini cooper s. I was looking to put another style or after market system in my car. I had someone tell me that you can not put anything besides the stock system or harmon system in the coops because they are 5 om instead of 4 or 8.
Has anyone else been able to do an audio system swap ?

The front speakers are more likely to be the same as the rear I guess (in terms of ohms I mean), so I would say whoever told you that is full of crap Because I have two Blaupunkt speakers in the rear and they are working just fine. I had them in my previous car (05 Sunfire) and installed them in my Mini.

Edit: I don't have the H/K system!!!

Depends which system you have. IIRC H/K is 2ohm, normal is 4ohm (but I could have that wrong.) If you have the non-H/K system, drop me an email as I have an extra set of non-H/K front speakers.
