Plastidip or CF wrap my headlight rings??

I'm going back and forth on what would look better.....spraying my chrome headlight rings with plastic dip to give them that flat black color like my front grill, or wrapping them in some 3M Di-Noc carbon fiber wrap to match my stripes. I think both would look really good....just trying to decide on the option that would look the best

What do you guys think?

I'd wrap them, unless you want to be touching up the PD rings every so often.

Wrap them or have Lyle do them for you, http://www.vinylstyles.com/index2.php#/home/

I got Lyle's wrapped rings about three years ago and they still look great.

PD is soft. I had mine wrapped by Lyle, along with pretty much every other bit of chrome except for the grill bezel which is MINI.

I've been pretty impressed by the PD on my headlight rings...6 months and no chipping or fading. FWIW, I coat mine with Sonus Total Eclipse or 303 Aerospace protectant every other wash and I keep my car garaged at night, but I do put 60 miles (50% hwy) on it per day and it sits out in sun at work.

That being said, I say wrap them. It'll go nicely with your hood stripes, but do me a favor...please wrap them with the carbon lines running at a diagonal...and this includes the headlight washers too! I saw a set done with the carbon lines on the headlight ring running horizontally and the hl washer vertically. Really!?

It's your car, so do with it what you will but since this is an aesthetic mod, might as well keep it aesthetically pleasing.

Mine are PD, and have had no issues, but I would also wrap them. Next time Lyle is in this part of the country or in April if he is at the Dragon I will have him do mine.

I have my grill wrapped and everything else plasti dipped. Door handles, headlight rings, gas cap. I have more rock chips in my grill then on any of the plasti. Actually i dont have any rock chips where the plasti is. Its all been done for over a year now. I like the plasti dip better its so easy to put on and you can do anything with it.

Well, I decided to plastidip them. I had some free time yesterday, so I figured I would give it a shot. It was either that, or wait a week for the CF vinyl to show up.

What do you think?

Nicely done!
Hey, you can always peel and wrap in a few weeks/months/years, if you change your mind...the awesome property of PD!

What's next, the belt line?

I thought about doing the belt line in the 3M Di-Noc CF vinyl....but it looks like it may be a pretty big pain the butt to do it. I'm worried it may be a pain to get it to look right.

Have you done it on your belt line? What is pretty easy?? Does anyone sell it it 1" rolls so I don't have to cut a bunch of strips from a big sheet and apply them?

I used the black belt line tape from outmotoring. It's actually more of a satin/gloss finish than the matte you see in their picture. The first time I did it was a learning experience. It wasn't bad, but definitely not good enough for me to live with. I ordered another roll a few months later and re-did it...much better. If you put your nose to the car you can see a few silver slivers peeking out here and there but nothing worth complaining about.

It's the exact width of your belt line and comes with a few extra feet if you make a mistake. Key is to stretch slightly as you go to avoid creases/bubbles but not too much so that it shrinks as it settles.

Headlight rings look great, is that plasti-dip the spray on kind or did you actually "dip" them?

I'd recommend doing the scuttle and a-panels with the carbon fiber. It'll work nicely into the stripe and love the contrast on lighter colors. Just my opinion though.

I have a roll of flat black vinyl and plan on vinyl wrapping as much of the chrome as I can.

Love it! Looks fantastic.

And you can PD the belt line as well.

I plastidipped headlight rings, hood badge, door handles, and gas cap 2 years ago. Just now had to redo the headlights other than that no issues. This is also with running car thru car wash weekly. Love the stuff. Just do several light coats, and let it bake in the sun for a day.
