Interior/Exterior Vinyl wrap wheels?
Vinyl wrap wheels?
Has anyone ever Vinyl wrapped their wheels? dumb idea? good idea? my winter wheels are basically the stock 16's in silver but would love to make them just black. Wanted something I could reverse at anytime if i decided to trade in car.

Weird - I saw something about plasti-dipping wheels just yesterday.
Vinyl will not take the temps that the wheels can get to with heavy braking. it will most probably melt and if it does not melt it will surely shrink leaving a real mess and ugly looking wheels.

you guys really think that those wheel arches get hot?
you cant be serious?
and, teebo, yes, its reversible. check it on ebay, a kid did a video of the stuff. it looks pretty resilient! he crunches it and folds it, then just heats it up and you cant even tell! I think that stuff just peels off. which, if it did get damaged, you can just replace that section.
and, finally, yes, it comes in both matte black and glossy black, as well as chrome, carbon fiber (or several colors), and even gold.
ive seen it for about $5 a square foot. reckon it gets cheaper the more you buy, and i think you can take a nice long foot wide roll and cut it in half.
what i dont wanna do is ruin all my clips taking off the arches :I

He is talking about Wrapping his WHEELS (rims). NOT the arches.
I always thought this could be clever but just wouldn't work. I've seen a local kid do it on their Bimmer. Looked flawless, you couldn't tell they were wrapped. I was told the vinyl would last as long as you clean the back of the wheel and tuck properly. Heat wasn't an issue, peeling from not applying it properly was. Have never tried doing it myself. Might do it this winter with an extra set of wheels.
OP, PlastiDip may be your solution. Holds up really nicely and dries off to a sheet for peeling. I've used it on other projects. Its really durable because its a rubber compound. Check this out below.
