Interior R56 transplant

So i'm obsessed with the black interior of the 2011+ (maybe 2010) mini's. I love the black buttons and i think it gives it a super clean look.

example:

my question is, if i find a totalled/part out 2011 mini, can i swap everything in the column BELOW the speedo? Meaning if it has the non-auto ac like mine, will the parts match up?

One big problem is that we have the volume control below the speedo and 2011+ has it on the radio control buttons in the speedo. I think that makes a direct swap pretty hard. I believe you'd have to replace the entire radio, speedo and lower covers for it to work and even with that, you'd probably need a software update (compatibility?)..

My local Mini service had told me it's not possible before when I asked aboutit but then I don't think many Mini services are knowledgeable on these kinds of unofficial retrofits.

I wanted that black speedo the minute I saw it, and asked my dealer if it could be swapped in. They swear it cannot. Of course, they also swear you can't get an Apple Mini installed in a Mini Cooper, so grain of salt.

The speedo, radio, and CD player are all attached together. If you could find the speedo assembly, the A/C, the toggles, a tach, and the center dash piece you'd be good to go. I can't even imagine how much all that would cost though. If I went through all that I would add NAV too.

I think you might have problems with programming to get it to work right. Everything should fit thoug.

Those are JCW dials. I wonder if the parts are listed on RealOEM? Probably a bit of work. I think the tach dial is sold as one unit which is pricey.

Anyways that is the interior pic of my soon to be JCW - chrome line with chili red. I can't wait!!

Sat in one yesterday at the dealer (the coupe) - EXACTLY that colour pattern, with a black outside / red roof.

So awesome.

I asked my parts manager about this and got a few prices on the tach and gauge cluster. Well not worth doing it. That cost to swap over everything, easier and cheaper to take a hit and trade-in. Silly I know, but nearly the same as throwing a turbo on a non-S, not even worth it.

It wouldn't change the the gauge faces but could'nt you paint the silver plastic around the controls and switches black?
